Supporting the organizations creating safer communities
We envision a world where all children are safe, respected, and have the support they need to thrive.
We believe lasting change happens when people and organizations work together. By directing resources to allied nonprofits with proven expertise, Project Intervention helps bring greater attention, resources, and community involvement to work that prevents violence and promotes well-being.
Our Mission
Project Intervention was founded to help nonprofit organizations expand their capacity to help children, families, educators, and communities create a safer future for all. We are committed to ending all forms of violence by creating safe spaces and resources for youth, families, and communities in New York and Florida, and other places in the United States by directing attention and resources to nonprofits that provide trauma-informed training and services that reduce self-harm and violence.
Preventing violence through diverse interventions
Project Intervention is a nonprofit supporter and convener, supporting and collaborating with nonprofit organizations that are already serving communities and understand the challenges facing children, youth, families, and educators.
We help amplify their work through fundraising, awareness-building, events, and relationships with donors, policymakers, volunteers, artists, and community supporters.
What guides our work
Compassion
We lead with empathy, dignity, and respect for the experiences of children, families, and communities.
Partnership
We believe progress is stronger and more sustainable when organizations work together.
Trauma-informed practice
We value approaches that recognize the effects of trauma, avoid causing further harm, and promote choice, trust, collaboration, and empowerment.
Hope and action
We believe positive change is possible, and that it requires those who are capable of meaningful action to speak out, raise awareness, and direct attention and resources where they are needed most to help avert harm.
Leadership
Project Intervention was founded in May 2026 by Carol Sonnenberg, who serves as Chief Executive Officer and Chair of the Board of Directors, to bring greater attention and support to organizations working to create safer environments and stronger futures for children and families. Ms. Sonnenberg was a K-12 and adult education licensed teacher for 25 years, and volunteered regularly at the Blythedale Children’s Hospital in Valhalla New York.

A growing movement for safer futures
Project Intervention is beginning its work with a commitment to learn, listen, and grow responsibly. As our partnerships develop, we will share updates about the organizations we support, the communities they serve, and the impact we have helped make possible.
